Q: How do you fight ignorance as an artist?

A: By being Myself, living loudly and not apologizing for it. I sing and write music to connect with people, which possess a lot of power that should be used to fight ignorance. Art is meant to provoke the mind and inspire the soul. Art is meant to heal, which our community needs right now. We are living in a very divided world, and I believe if we had more conversations with one another, regardless of race, gender, and sexual identity, we can find similarities, which is why I love music. In a time where social media is how we interact with each other, Art serves as a guide to our humanity. To hear more about how change begins with listening, especially when you have privilege, listen to my follow up interview HERE, and my original interview HERE.
